While you may not think that you will see golfers as a clinician, I can bet that they will see you. With almost 25 million registered golfers in the US alone, there will be clients that show up on your schedule that have “return to golf” as a goal.
As movement experts, physical therapists are in an optimal position to help these patients get back their quality of life and return to the game they love.
This course will focus on educating the clinician on golf vocabulary, assessment of movement, and treatment using manual and exercise interventions. This course is both didactic and lab based to help drive home the principles of treating the golfer. After this course, you should feel confident in helping your patients return to golf after any and all injuries they may encounter.
By the end of this course, the clinician should be able to:
•Communicate effectively with patients
and other golf professionals using proper golf terminology
• Identify movement faults in the body that can effect the golf swing
• Identify swing faults that may be causing musculoskeletal pain
•Use manual therapy and golf specific exercise to improve these
movement and swing faults in their patients
•Market to their local community a new and/or improved service for
the golfers of their area
Be ready to move in this course. You will learn how to analyze a golf swing which will assist you in your evaluation of your clients. By using manual therapy and exercise, you will improve how your golfers move and perform.
